Putting LION in your Linkedin Profile and then IDK an invite 2008/02/20 08:57 Karma: 9
This doesn't belong in the incident reports since "Michael Kenyon (michael.kenyon@att.net) LION" isn't on this site or in our invites database, but nevertheless has LION in his name on his profile along with his email address, and marked my invite IDK.

edit to add: also "David O'Connell (LION) Toplinked.com" IDK'd me and he's not on this board either.

Why do people put LION in their name, do they know what it means or do they just do it because they see other people on linkedin doing it and think it's cool?

Mark
As with everything in life the are people of questionable ethics. Who knows there motives in fact I don't want to be able to understand them. I just realize they are out there and do my best to avoid them.

Worked it out with O'Connell, he just simply did not know the rules. He had both LION and toplinked.com in his *name* field and yet selected IDK. When explained what toplinked.com and LION meant, he worked it out with Linkedin.com customer service as well as toplinked.com, and ended up sending me an invite, which I accepted. Worked out to be a win-win. My account is no longer restricted (though my number of invites is rapidly dwindling) and I have a new contact who's been recently educated on what open networking means.
