I would like to think that some type of commradery exists. When I'm in search of something I look to my network first but that's just one of the many factors I use in selecting an advisor or subcontractor. Why go through the exercise of building a network if you're not going to use it.

Now, with that said, I won't give a recomendation based on a LinkedIn relationship. That's reserved for those I know personally or have worked with. I'll pass you along as a potential source but that's about it.

I absolutely hate invitations from total strangers that starts with the "Since you're a person I trust..." BS. Most of the time those invitations are left to die on the vine so to speak.

That's my two cents worth.

You know I have been linking with almost every LION I can, some want you to be usefulto them but a majority are just opento hearing from someone. It really depends on your dedication to being on Linked In all day. Goups and sites like this one enable to you connect a little more directly with your target connections.
