Hi new here, but curious about IDK 2008/03/11 16:51 Karma: 0
Hi, I;m new to the lions network.

I spologise if this sounds like a rant.

I'm a researcher for a recruitment company, Linkedin is a great resource for me in finding names and a good place to start.

I've invited people from your list and noticed a banner today saying i'd recieved IDK from people.
Is it possible to find out who these are?

I've recieved emails from recruiters(No problem with other Researchers) Claiming linked in to be far to valuable a resource to share their connections with anyone in the same industry.

If i may state a response here:
I dont believe you grasp teh vast wealth of information available on the internet.
Linkedin Cannot be your only tool.
Dont use open network services if your not really open. Give a little, get a little.
Im not going to go into detail about what we do, ill just state it. 4 months. 5000 more people in DB. I'm not really losing out here. You are.

I personally believe as great as linkedin is, if that in conjuction with Ad's are your only real tools, you wont keep up with the pace in a few years.

*Edit*

Thanks for the replies, taking a look now.

As the saying goes: Learn from your mistakes. I got IDKed by 4 "LIONs" which I had invited on LinkedIn. As it happens, they are not LIONs as I could not find them in the search here. So, now before inviting a LION from LinkedIn, I spend a little time (2 minutes) and check to see if they are actually registered or not. Having your account restricted is a pain, and getting it unrestricted is even a bigger pain. So better safe than sorry

Hi there,

I agree. No reason to ever hit IDK... just archive it! One of the basic tenets of being a LION is to NEVER IDK another LION. Sorry that a few bad apples spoil the bunch.

If you account gets suspended from too many IDK's, just email tech support and say you're sorry and they'll reinstate it. (This has happened to me twice now - once when I was a newbie and once after inviting the TopLinked list only to get IDK'ed by a bunch of folks - and now I'm much more cautious about who I invite.)

Hope this helps!
Stacy - 3700+ direct connections

P.S. - Feel free to invite me at szapar@websense.com. I'm an "accept all" open networker.

Like every new LIONs, I went through the same process - finding out how I got IDKs.

Now, I'm very careful sorting through any list, adding an edited invitation, before I hit send button.

Lesson learned.
