Should I be worried? 2007/08/07 02:06 Karma: 1
I recently received an invite from a fellow LION via LinkedIn. It didn't come through the email address that I have registered at LinkedIn or here, but to a non business email.

I checked the original email to make sure that the link was going to LinkedIn and then clicked the invite. I checked the details on LinkedIn and then cross checked them here. The person is registered on both sites.

I have accepted the invite. And I have double checked that the correct email address in in my profile on here and on LinkedIn.

However, I received another invite for XING from the same person but through to both the email registered here but also my personal email.

This concerns me greatly. Should I be worried?

Its a little concerning, but then again I'm sure your email is al over the web so its not suprising. I would ask them where they got that emailand if the don't respond I would block them. If they tell you where of course you may then correct the error. If the email was from me, you have nothing to worry about

Its like the software tech. from a social networking site that will remain nameless. After the 3rd day he did not respond to my email I left a voice mail on his home phone. He called me back real quick to say the least and asked that I not give out that number. Of course I will not but it just goes to show you how easy it is to obtain information these days. A lot of the people I find on LinkedIn I get their home number and sometimes private email without asking for it. I actually do this for their benefit so they will not get in trouble with their office.

I have had the same thing happen.

It was never a problem until I downloaded and installed the Outlook/LinkedIn toolbar, which checks your Outlook contacts for updates, and checks your emails against all of your emails addresses.

I assume that LinkedIn runs some kind of bot for that.

However, I am now also getting spam on email addresses that never received spam before.
