Fellow LIONs;

That concerns spock.com and their abusive email practices

I would like to propose some sort of "Code of Conduct" amongst the LIONs that we use to protect ourselves from being subjected to abuses by LIONs who ALSO mass-invite LIONs to OTHER SITES.

The LIONs are a LINKEDIN.com community. Yes, I understand open networking is a core aspect of our creed, but I think it's vital to reinforce that the basis of participation in/through LIONs is on LinkedIn.com.

Therefore, I propose that some controls and appropriate consequences be made where LIONs invite other LIONs to these pernicious "networking" sites without the prior consent of the invited LION.

The core problem is that once I've been invited THROUGH the offending site, it's already too late to undo the damage in most cases. Plaxo and spock.com are particularly virulent in their abuses of my email inbox and I have little tolerance for careless LIONs that set such abuses in motion.

I understand your annoyance however as open networkers we have to expect these things. My I suggest a couple of ways I deal with these issues.

1 Setup a septate email address just for your online networking
Mine is JoeW.Linkedin@gmail.com

2 Setup rules or filters on your incoming email
I have a rule for Plaxo, Spock, Bluechip & invites

3 Use unsubscribe link's when they are available

4 Don't get irritated these thing are to be expected online. Setup your own buffer and realize this is the nature of the beast

I hope this helps it would be nice if we could rely on a mature network community (for the most part they are) however it is the internet and there are all types out there.

Joe,

I like your approach. I have been getting many other requests to join other networking groups. I simply delete them. The certainly are NOT annoying, or a problem -- as long as my DELETE key works.
