Lions ("LinkedIn Open Networkers") was originally formed as a yahoogroup called "YouCanSendMeInvitesToConnect". By joining, you "opted-In" to receiving "Invites to Connect" from Fellow (and "like-minded") Open-Networkers. Members could upload YaqhooGroup member lists into their contacts on LinkedIn and then send them Invites.
Now on the Lions' Lair this is even easier --
For "New Lions" (Cubs?)
- Just Download the Current "Safe to Invite Membership List" from the Download section of The Lair
- Upload it to Your "Other Contacts" section on LinkedIn
- Send Invites to all of those "Other Contacts" who are, of course, LinkedIn Members
This way you go from Cub Status to "Superconnector" overnight (as of today their are over 1800 LIONs who accept Invites from other Lions)
For "Old Lions"
- You should probably periodically upload a safe list just to make sure you are caught up
- And Because you have "opted-in" on Your Lions Lair Profile (or not), you will recieve a steady stream of news "Invites to Connect" from both "Cubs" and "Old-Timers" who haven't uploaded a list in awhile.
And as for the "Over 3,000 Club", the so-called "Restricted LIONS"
Uploading only tells you how many Lions haven't sent out "Invites to Connect" to you, since you can't do anything about it.
However, you may still ACCEPT Invites so you will continue to grow you Connections.
So, for Lions, at least, The Safe Invite Lists are a win-win way to continue to grow your LinkedIn Connections
