I received an invitation from Josh Fairbanks to join a LION group on LinkedIn (see http://www.linkedin.com/groupInvitation?groupID=47500&sharedKey=39510A13F854). I am a bit puzzled and would like to know whether this is related to this group of open networkers I am in since several years now or this is about someone reinventing the wheel using the same name...

It can be somewhat confusing. There re actually 2 LION groups on LinkedIn;

LIONs "LI Open Networkers"
Leading International Open Networkers (LION)

I saw the second LION group too. I believe linkedin should not allow duplicate names. However, since linkedin does not approve of open networking, I would not be surprised if the creation of two LION groups was intentional on their part.

They are not exactly duplicate names as per say: one is LIONs the other LION. I know it is minimal, but what can be really confusing is what the users add on their name:
LION !!!
Now which one would this be? Ours or theirs. That we don't know and I suspect this is related to the issue reported by Mark Gessner:

Well, I join both group. So, LION is a LION, no matter which LION, I welcome invitation.

I also welcome the invitation of actually all the groups. But the point here is different. We have someone else duplicating a group. Unfortunately this is happening too much on LI nowadays. And it is a mess!
